Raised in Harlem on the sweet streets of Suga Hill, Kareem Queeman affectionately known as Mr. Bake has had a passion for baking since he was 5 years old cooking alongside his grandmother. Mr. Bake learned quickly and decided to further his technique and experience by obtaining a Bachelors in Culinary Arts from Monroe College and a Certification in Restaurant Management from the International Culinary Center, both located in New York City. While earning his degree, Mr. Bake worked with popular local bakeries including Carrot Top Pastries, Make My Cake, Sara Beth Bakery, and Billy’s Bakery.
Mr. Bake left the Big Apple to pursue his career as an entrepreneur and business owner in Washington, DC. His first major career endeavor in D.C. was assisting the owner of Fluffy Thought Cakes launch its first storefront, he later became store manager at a local D.C. favorite, Crumbs Bakery. It was 3 years later when Mr. Bake’s NY hustle matriculated into Mr. Bake, LLC in the summer of 2013.

To date, his rainbow cupcakes have been featured on Good Morning Washington (WJLA) and in May 2018, he was the first male to win the title of America’s Best Baker DC competition after presenting several cupcakes such as his red velvet, chocolate cake with salted caramel filling, strawberry shortcake; and fan favorite apple pie cupcake. Mr. Bake also competed in other culinary competitions including his most recent appearance on the nationally syndicated TV show, Cake Boss’s Bake It Like Buddy which aired on Discovery Family November 2018.
Since the inception of Mr. Bake, the company has received the highest praises from customers and onlookers alike. Leaving them always impressed with the artistry of his cake creations as well as the ability to capture their taste buds from beginning to end from his creamy homemade frostings to the fillings. Mr. Bake is baking the world a better place, one cake at a time.
